In November 2022 Homes England commissioned SQW to carry out a research study to capture the fiscal and wellbeing impacts associated with housing for older people. SQW, supported by Qa Research, Joanne Smithson of the What Works Centre for Wellbeing, and Colin Warnock Associates, undertook a research study to develop evidence of the wellbeing and fiscal impacts associated with the provision of housing for older people, so that these can be used in economic appraisals and value for money assessments.

The Transforming Food Production (TFP) Challenge programme was delivered by UKRI and set an ambitious goal “to accelerate the development and adoption of integrated precision approaches that will improve the productivity and resilience of primary food production systems and, at the same time, to set the sector on a trajectory to net zero emissions by 2040”. SQW led a four year evaluation of the programme for UKRI.

As the national independent regulator for health and adult social care in England, tackling inequalities in health and care is a core ambition for the Care Quality Commission (CQC). To support this ambition, CQC commissioned SQW to deliver a rapid evidence review focusing on ‘what works to tackle inequalities by regulators, oversight, and supervisory bodies, from other sectors and countries’.

In late 2022, SQW was commissioned by the General Dental Council (GDC) to understand and explore the experiences and perceptions of and attitudes towards the GDC of early career dental professionals – namely those who have been registered to practice dentistry in the UK for five years or less.
February 2024
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport commissioned SQW (supported by three partners: UK Youth, the Institute for Social and Economic Research at the University of Essex and the University of Warwick, alongside a Youth Panel convened by UK Youth) to undertake three research studies focused on the research question 'what impact does regularly attending youth clubs have for young people?'.

SQW, in partnership with eftec, have been working with Homes England over the last two years to deliver new appraisal guidance for the Agency to improve the understanding of different aspects of social value in delivering new housing across England.
