Impact Assessment on the Strategic Innovation Agenda of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology

Client: European Commission DG Education and Culture

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) was set up to help address weaknesses in the innovation performance in the EU. It has a particular focus on encouraging the knowledge triangle (between education, business and research) to work more effectively through a number of Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs). These Knowledge and Innovation Communities were established to cover key societal challenges such as health, energy, raw materials, climate change, digital technology and food production.

SQW was commissioned, in partnership with Visionary Analytics and Ramboll Management, to contribute to an ex ante impact assessment of the new Strategic Innovation Agenda of the EIT for the 2021-27 period. SQW's role was focussed on creating an indicator framework for assessing the performance and impact of the EIT and the KICs.
