Development of the Economic Case for a £15m expansion of the MTC in the Liverpool City Region

Client: Liverpool City Region Combined Authority

The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is one of seven specialist centres that form the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, spanning expertise from the processing of basic raw materials through to high integrity product assembly processes.

The MTC and Liverpool City Region partners are proposing to invest in two new complementary facilities designed to accelerate new concepts to commercial reality: a “digital sandpit” to be co-located with the Hartree Centre at Sci Tech Daresbury; and a major new “Factory in a box” development in the Liverpool Knowledge Quarter, which would significantly expand the MTC’s presence in Liverpool.

SQW was commissioned to support the project by developing the Economic Case in collaboration with the MTC and LCR partners. As part of the work, SQW modelled various options for the scheme and conducted robust value for money assessments.
