Rapid Evidence Assessment and Guidance Development: Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

In 2017 the Welsh Government commissioned SQW and the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) to undertake a rapid evidence assessment (REA) into 'what works' in supporting learners affected by Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The REA explores the existing evidence base regarding what works (and indeed, what does not work, or practice for which there is no or limited evidence of efficacy) in supporting the learning of children and young people aged 0-25 with ASD.

SQW and SCIE used the REA findings to develop guidance aimed at those supporting young people with ASD, including those involved in planning provision, those involved in delivery (such as teachers, lecturers, early years practitioners), and other professionals supporting children and young people's learning. It is also expected the guides will be used by parents and third sector organisations.
