Evaluation of the Enterprise Adviser Network

The Enterprise Adviser Network connects schools and colleges with employers and careers programme providers and supports them to work together to provide young people with effective and high-quality encounters with the world of work. The Networks are driven by Enterprise Coordinators who work with a group of around 20 schools or colleges to give advice to schools and college on which careers programme providers, activities and resources have been proven to work, share up-to-date information on the skills local and national employers need and liaise with local employers to coordinate work encounters.

Careers Hubs are a part of the National network.  A Careers Hub is a group of between 20 and 40 secondary schools and colleges located in the same geographic area, working together, and with partners in the business, public, education and voluntary sectors to deliver all the Gatsby Benchmarks and ensure that careers outcomes are improved for all young people.  Careers Hubs have a ‘Hub Lead’ to help coordinate activity and build networks, access to bursaries for individual schools and colleges to train Careers Leaders and a Central Hub Fund of equivalent to £1k per school or college.

SQW is pleased to be working with The Careers and Enterprise Company to support their ‘test, learn and adapt’ model, ensuring that learning feeds into ongoing delivery plans.  SQW are leading on data gathering for surveys and qualitative insights from Enterprise Advisers, Enterprise Coordinators, Hub Leads and Careers Leaders in schools.  The Research team at CEC leads on the impact analysis (encompassing Compass, Future Skills and destinations data)

The SQW evaluation commenced in 2017 and will report in October 2020. Early outputs of this work are the publication of findings from a survey completed by over 750 Enterprise Advisers in Autumn 2018, which can be downloaded here, survey results from the school and college survey in 2018 which are available here, and a report from 2019 which identifies the emerging early impact of Careers Hubs, which can be downloaded here.
