Employability Day 2023

This Employability Day we want to highlight the work we’re currently doing in the employability space. Most of our work focuses on evaluating programmes supporting people who face disadvantages (such as ill health, disabilities, age and caring responsibilities), how to provide high quality careers advice and how to move people into good work.

Some of our ongoing and recent evaluations/research in this space include:

  • Evaluations of the devolved Work and Health Programme and JETS Programme in both Greater Manchester (reports here) and London (our first report here)
  • Evaluation of the Returners Fund for the Government Equalities Office (report here)
  • Evaluating Individual Learning Accounts in Scotland (report here)
  • Ongoing supporting to the Department for Education to support the continuous improvement of the National Careers Service, including the development of three literature reviews (available here)
  • A review of international practice in adult careers guidance for the Gatsby Foundation (report to be published in 2024)
  • Evaluating the Action Towards Inclusion programme in York, North Yorkshire and East Riding for Better Connect (report expected late 2023)
  • Evaluating the Workways programme in South West Wales (report expected late 2023)

You can also hear Graham Thom, who delivered many of these studies, talk about supporting people into sustained employment on our Insight for Impact podcast here.
