Call for Evidence: International Higher Education Collaboration Research

Arts Council England has commissioned SQW to undertake research into the potential for closer collaboration between ACE partner organisations and English higher education institutions (HEIs) on international issues. The first part of this research involves an evidence gathering exercise to help establish the existing relationships between ACE partner organisations and HEIs, and the focus, and drivers, of these relationships.

SQW are keen to hear from ACE partner organisations with the following experiences:

  • Existing or developing relationships between an ACE partner organisation and one or more HEIs, focussed on international activities (e.g. collaborative research, student exchange, or co-production of courses taught overseas)
  • Structured relationships between an ACE partner organisation and one or more HEIs with shared objectives and activities (e.g. co-produced courses, jointly curated programmes, co-supervision of students or sharing facilities or resources).

SQW may contact you to undertake a telephone consultation based on your experience and relationships – this conversation would cover the origins of the relationship, its objectives and the benefits of working in partnership with a HEI. This research will inform ACE's approach to supporting collaboration between the creative and cultural sectors, and the HE sector, in our forthcoming strategy.

If you have an example which you would like to share with the research team, please email Joe Shaw, the Arts Council project lead Joe Shaw (joe.shaw@artscouncil.org.uk) or the SQW lead Jo Hutchinson (jhutchinson@sqw.co.uk) with the following information:

  • Name of ACE partner organisation
  • Name of partner HEI
  • Artistic discipline in focus
  • Nature of collaboration (research, co-production, sponsorship, teaching and learning, other)
  • Brief description of partnership
  • Confirmation that you are willing to be part of the research and happy for your contact details to be shared with ACE and SQW.
