Review of European Social Fund management and delivery arrangements
This project, for the Learning and Skills Council London, required a review of current structures, staffing and processes for the delivery of ESF across the LSCs in London and a scoping exercise to look at new requirements associated with the start up of new programmes. SQW undertook a review of job descriptions, a staff survey, staff consultations and comparator areas in order to inform recommendations on management arrangements for the future.
West Midlands regional observatory business plan
This project, for Advantage West Midlands, included the development of a business plan to support the operation of the new West Midlands Data and Intelligence Observatory during its first three years of activity. The work examined a range of the Observatory’s key business dimensions, including the development of detailed organisational options and financing structures.
New Lanark Conservation Trust business review
SQW was commissioned to undertake a business review of the New Lanark Conservation Trust for Scottish Enterprise, Lanarkshire and Historic Scotland, South Lanarkshire Council. The review covered a wide range of issues including the financial position of the trust, performance against business plan, markets and marketing, maintenance and conservation of New Lanark. The work was primarily intended to assist the sponsoring agencies assess the potential for the continued operation of the trust without revenue support from external sources. SQW was assisted by MGA Tourism & Leisure Consulting and HLB Kidsons, chartered accountants.
Review of governance and management structure of Black Country Connexions
This project entailed a full review of the Black Country Connexions’ structure and processes, including the form and function of partnership arrangements. Options for restructuring and reconfiguring the organisation were explored and developed in order to reorient and refocus the delivery of Connexions service in the Black Country.
Barnsley economic development strategy
SQW was appointed by Barnsley Development Agency to develop an Economic Development Strategy. This included a strategy review of the organisational structures and strategic priorities in the Borough, and an organisational review of the remit and role of Barnsley Development Agency.
