I joined SQW as a Research Consultant in 2017 after completing a year of study in China, and having graduated from the University of Leeds. I've since been promoted to Consultant. I applied to work at SQW as it provided an opportunity to apply the research skills I gained at university across a range of sectors for a variety of clients.

At SQW I have been involved in projects focusing on economic development. One project I particularly enjoyed working on was the Berkshire Local Industrial Strategy (for Thames Valley Berkshire LEP). During this project I was responsible for researching and writing a series of technical papers focusing on: the performance of Berkshire's economy in terms of productivity; the extent of local innovation in Berkshire's IT sector; and the changing nature of "the middle" of Berkshire's economy (with implications for inclusion and progression).

One of the great things about working at SQW is the amount of responsibility you are given very early in your career. From the outset, I was invited to client meetings and contributed to producing outputs for final reports. Within two years of joining as a Research Consultant, I had started to manage projects. The culture at SQW is very supportive which makes it a great place to work. Consultants are encouraged to pursue their own areas of interest and each project provides an opportunity to learn new skills, work alongside different colleagues and learn about different parts of the country.
