I joined SQW in 2018 after completing my MSc in Global Health at King's College London where my focus was on sexual health. I have a varied background having worked and done internships across a range of sectors. I spent the second half of 2017 in Zambia writing a paper for the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine around a large HIV drug trial, and the first half of 2018 working for NHS commissioned health-tech start-up 'Medefer'. My attraction to SQW was in the variety of work that it does, the training and personal development that SQW offers and an interest in consultancy generally.

My background in health has meant that I have a particular interest in that area, but I have worked on a range of projects across all the areas that SQW works in, contributing to high profile projects for clients like NHS England and Welsh Government. It has been an exciting challenge to push myself in less familiar areas such as spatial and economic development. Working on these projects has really improved my written and analytical skills as well as soft skills such as interview techniques and developing client relationships.

As a research consultant at SQW I have taken part in extensive training in technical skills relevant to my work, including ArcGIS Pro, Excel and SmartSurvey. Research consultants at SQW are supported by RC Mentors who are a key point of contact for personal development and invaluable in terms of all kind of support around the office. New research consultants are also paired with 'buddies' who have been working at SQW for a while, this makes the induction process smooth and means there is always someone to turn to for advice and guidance.
