SQW is a leading provider of research, analysis and advice on sustainable economic and social development for public, private and not-for-profit organisations. Founded in Cambridge in 1983 by Nick Segal, Roger Quince and Bill Wicksteed, SQW now employs over 80 staff at its offices in Cambridge, Edinburgh, Leeds, London and Manchester.

We offer services in a diverse range of fields, from science & technology, ICT and innovation to rural development, neighbourhood renewal and regional development. In all of our work we employ the principles of rigorous analysis, collaborative working, commitment to quality and independence of thought.

Our staff bring extensive experience to their assignments, with backgrounds in academia, national and local government, industry, and development agencies.

Our clients include government departments in the United Kingdom and overseas, devolved administrations, regional development agencies, funding bodies, local authorities, partnerships and international agencies.

SQW is part of SQW Group. Its sister firm is Oxford Innovation, which provides premises and services to innovative start-up companies. The Group also includes SQW China, located in Hong Kong and undertaking international research and analysis.
